As stated you can put a brake on about anything. I have one on my Ruger 77 30-06 which is my main hunting rifle recoil is next to nothing and the gun is very accurate, but it is loud when shooting. I notice it whe shooting for the bench but cant ever remember hearing it when taking a deer <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I also have brakes on my 300 win mag and have had them on a 7mmSTW and a 300WBY MAG I had they were great at redoucing recoil. I see no true down side to a brake for myself but the noise level is something to concider.

If you put a muzzle brake on a gun you must never fire it without hearing protection. Are you prepared to wear hearing protection while hunting?

When I bought my first .30/'06, a M721 Remington, at age 13, I had flinching problems big time. However, I shortly thereafter discovered that I was reacting to the muzzle blast more than the actual felt recoil. Once I started using the proper type of ear protection, the flinching went away! Before you install a brake, make sure it is the RECOIL that's the problem!!

Keep yore powder dry!!

Yes,i think both the recoil and the blast are what making me flinch a bit. I use a gun butpad to soften the recoil,it is working fine.So is there a special brand of muzzel brake that could produce less blast than the other.&quot;say with round holes in sted slated ones!&quot;.

Thanks

Toons, unfortunately muzzle brakes equal muzzle blast. No way around it. Thats just how thay work. What stock do you have on your Savage? I have a 116 in 300 Win Mag that came with that plastic stock and needless to say the recoil was noticeable. I changed it our for a laminated stock from Richard's Microfit and not only does it look much better, it greatly reduced felt recoil.

No, I don't care for muzzle brakes too much. Been on the bench next to too many of them and I don't like the added noise. Give me recoil any day of the week, but leave the blast and noise levels normal.

Can't go wrrong with that frizzellr. There are more alternatives for recoil than blasts in the filed.
