Excellent choice. Being you hunt other then deer and reload makes even a stronger case for the 7mm 08.

I bought a Browning A-bolt Micro for my oldest son last year in 7m-08. Only problem is that I'm going to need to buy another because you know who (me) has discovered what a great little rifle this is and that the caliber is a great one for whitetail.

RE: 7-08????

My uncle bought one for my 10 year old nephew who at the time was so afraid of the kick of a gun that he was having troubles pulling the trigger of a .22 (I cured that by putting his hand behind the butt of the .22 and pulling the trigger) Few months later he is having 0 trouble firing his 7mm 008! The only thing I found odd about the gun was how loud of a report it seemed to have. (That is what scared the poor little guy so much.)

The fact that you reload makes the 7mm-08 even a BETTER choice as a light recoiling , accurate, hard hitting deer caliber..

120 grain bullets are excellent performers in this chambering, and they kick even less than the 140 grainers...Two bullets that give good performance for deer sized game are the 120 Nosler Ballistic Tip and the 120 Barnes TSX...With one of these bullets you can nearly match .270 /130 grain performance with considerably less recoil... Or you can back off a few grains and get even lighter recoil while still maintaining performance to make 200 yard shots...
