New Savage in the 6.5 x 284 for 2007

Just came across this. Savage is now offering for 2007 a target rifle chambered in the 6.5 x 284 NORMA. The rifle is the 12 F Class Precision Target Rifle c/w AccuTrigger and 30” barrel.. Check the link, just in case anyone is interested... www.savagearms.com/2007_pressrelease.htm

Uh, I might have to check out that new target action. Savage might have made me a believer if they work as good as they look.

This might put the itch into other companies to follow. Would be nice but I don’t mind the look of that Savage...

Wow, it looks like savage is doing their homework with the addition to having a lower weight trigger assembly and having a 30 inch barrel to squeeze all the fps out of the 6.5x284. I just might look into this one, even though I just picked upa new custom6.5x284.

They also offer the model in .308 as well. Shooting times did a write up on both and they loved them.

Shooting Times tested the 308 model in the April 2007 issue. Yes they list the loads they tested as well.

I would have to find a lot better price than that or I would just build my own.

Remember, that's suggested retail. Real selling prices will be a bit lower.

It's neat but not really anything screaming out for me to buy it. The action being available seperatly though...that's interesting. ;)

If a person can get one for 1000dollars and its capable of printing 4" groups at 500 yards, its well worth the money. I have been down the road of buying senderosand 700PSS's, and taking to the range, shooting, not happy, going to the gun smith, rebedding, shooting again, sorta happy, ending up changing out the barrel, finally happy. Sure getting it the way I want it can be fun but very frustating. sometimes it would be nice to have instant bliss from a box.

I shoot a FN SPR A1 308 on ocassion. And let me tell ya the 1300 dollar price tag is worth it. Fine gun, fine quality, fine accuracy. Sure, you might be able to get one built to do the same, but I would rather have the resale value. Everytime, I try to sale a custom built gun, I loose over 50% and most of the time, I have to show someone personally that it shoots to make up 65%.

I haven't read the article myself yet, but there was a post on another forum saying they were getting .887" groups at 500 yards! I plan on picking up the magazine today.
