ORIGINAL: Nitrolseds

well glad I asked I didnt know the 700 was so much better than the 710
the only thing I was wanting to gain was the magazine on the bottom I have to put my ammo in from the top and I Was wanting to be able to have magazines for when I go to the 200yard range so that I could just have a bunch of clips filled up for shooting

I did notice that my buddies 710 .243 wasnt nearly as smooth as my 700 30-06 was
well I do apreciate all your guys input and I will continue letting my buddy thinking he has a better rifle than me lmao

I defenetly want to get the thumb hole stock though those are pretty tight
well any how thanks again on filling me in on that

ohh and for the guy that offered me 300 for the 700 thats what I payed for it bran new I have only had it now for about 1 month I have a bsa 3.5x10 50mm scope on it now all I need is to get the stock I want and a bipod
Well, there is a conversion available to let you change a Model 700 over to use detachable clips. (But not the SAME clip the M710 uses.......) If you have a decent gunsmith nearby, go see him/her about this. The Model 700 clips ARE NOT cheap, however-they'renot likeM1 Garand clips!

Sounds to me like his 700 is an ADL if he has to load from the top. A little more than a trigger guard/floorplate swapout involved here to change to a DBM type setup, although it can be done, I'm sure..........

What I meant to say was if his 700 is the ADL type and he has to unload using the bolt, the switch to a DBM type mag. would be much more difficult to do.

I think he has his numbers crossed. he paid 300 for a 700 with a scope already on it.. doesn't sound right.

I still think what he's after is to convert a 700 ADL type stock to a DBL operation.

Listen to the boy's!!!! You have a great action which is used by custom gunmakers. You won't see them using a 710 as an action on one of there guns.

What? Thats like converting an Ford F250 to a Pinto.

Do the webmasters/moderators start dumb#ss threads like this? Or is there really a moron out there wanting to convert a 700 to 710?

First off it can not be done. Nothing on the guns is remotely similar. The model 700 is by far the better rifle I do not understand your reasoning for wanting to try and convert.

The barrels on the model 710 are pressed in, the bolt rides an internal synthetic sleeve in the receiver that causes the bolt to be bindy and not very smooth, the bolt stop is unreliable at best, the magazine latch(plastic) no good breaks alot. The model 770 is a newer more improved version of the model 710 the only thing that applies with this gun from above is the barrel is still pressed in.

Nothing about the model 710 will ever be comparable to the model 700. Sell the 700 to some one who will love it and caress it and keep it in all its splendor for years to come and you go get your model 710 and send it to Remington every other monthand that way at leastone of us will be happy.
