Opinions wanted on Savage 111 Series

So I'm looking around at different 30-06's and I run across a Savage 111FXP3 at D1cks Sporting Goods and really liked the feel of it. Does anybody have any experience, opinions, input on this rifle? Price out the door is $380.

I have a Remington 7400 that I can use indefinitely or purchase from a friend, but as previously stated, I really liked the feel of the Savage.

Thanks in advance (as always)....

I've had 5 savage 110 or 111's (2 -243, 1-270, 1-308, 1-30-06). Won't win a beauty contest, but they sure do shoot good. I'd get it.

You won't regret buying one. They are very good rifles. They are dependable and very accurate.
Good Luck

Not to take anything away from the shooter, but my cousin just picked one up last year and it's very accurate. He got his in 300 WM and has taken a running deer at 60 yards and a broadside shot at 220 yards, placed the round right where he wanted it each time. Gets nice little groups at the range also. People also say they aren't nice looking rifles but I don't see what's so bad about them honestly, I think the Remington SPS is much uglier. JMO

Here's one man who did regret buying a Savage. It was a model 11fns .308, and it diddent shoot like I expected it to with all of the tackdriver comments made about them. I ended up selling it, and buying a Winchester stainless classic. That rifle shoots good, expecially for a magnum deer rifle. I would take a good hard look at everything on the market brfpr you hone in on any one maker. They all make good shooters, and not-so-good shooters depending on the luck of the draw. Buy a rifle based on features and handling, not an unverifiable inferences.
It's possible you may have gotten one bad one out of the bunch but I believe that it has a lot more to do with the shooter then the rifle.

i've got a 111 and i love it. Shootsgreat and has been very dependable. It was my go to gun last year shot 2 shots at game with it and brought both animals home. It's a wellbalanced firearm and agood shooter.I dont see where savages are all that ugly either like everyone claims. I personaly think they're 114's are really sharp. Go with the savage you wont regret it!
