I used to work at one and they would NEVER allow asst. guns of any kind in their stores to sell. We even had to return a M1 grand. I stopped at my old store and there was M15s and this little crazy thing of fhn think but it looked like some eurpe militry gun. Just wondering if you all heard anything why they changed thier minds.

My local Gander Mtn has a rack of assult rifles, they have a few of each, AK's Mini-14's Springfirld M1A'a ande AR-15's

The market for this type of firearm is huge now so they obviously saw that and the likely profits it would bring.

I was in Gander Mountain yesterday, and they had several AR15's on display. Good for them!!!

What I don't understand is what is happening with ammo prices. Good lord, the stuff is getting expensive! They're wanting $15-$18 per box for Remington Express PSP's in standard callibers, i.e. .243, .30-30, .270, .30-06. And, magnums are $30 - $40 per box, regardless... .243 WSSM's are as expensive as .338 Win Mag's. What the heck is up with that? I would really like to get a .338 Federal, but with ammo at $40 per box, there's no way. There is absolutely NO reason for .338 ammo to be more than twice as expensive as .243, .260, 7mm-08, or .308 ammo. No justification whatsoever. The only ammo I saw that was reasonably priced were some boxes of .243 100 gr. Federal Fusions for $9.99 a box.

The only thing I can think that is driving this is that a significant amount of the country's ammo production capacity is going to Iraq/Afghanistan...

Also, I can see maybe the companies are pushing all these new-fangled magnums so that they can gouge us onammo prices. Because, really, what purpose does a .270 WSM serve that the .270 Win. couldn't already do? Or the .300 WSM vs. the .30-06? Or the .243 WSM/WSSM vs. the .243 Win? Etc., etc., etc. Big deal, they might add 50-100 yards of effective range, but, it's at a distance that almost nobody shoots anyway. It's all marketing gimmicks to make people think they need the latest and greatest, new and improved garbage. Remington has always had the Wingmaster, the Gamemaster, the Woodsmaster, etc., and now they've got the new and improved, UltraMag Flinchmaster...
