Zrexpilot I know that was a 250 yard zero, you failed to look at the rest of the data. At 150 yard zero,it was right there with it. I am not saying it is better just not saying that it (7mmrm ) is that much better then the .270wsm with the same grain bullet. I am going to shoot my .270wsm aginst my brothers 7mmrm today ,we will give results from the chrony . I got to see my nefew shoot a coyote yesterday with his .270wsm at 350 yards (+ or - 25 yards) It was a running shot, had about 3 sec to pull it off, bang flop, I was impressed with his shot. 150 grain remington accutip I think around 33.00 a box though.

No problemo, I just thought, you thought, it had only 28" of drop at 500 yds. Just so you know that was a 250 yd zero.
I am not advocating either, theyre real close, so close it doesnt make a bit of difference. The difference for me would be price of shells and availability. Personally I would take the 7 mag because of those reasons.
Actually I would take the 7-08 or 270 win. over both, I am not into magnums, theyre not needed for 200 yd shots or even 300yds. Thats where I like to keep my shots under.

skeet-If you read my post I refered that the 270 wsm is a great deer caliber, probably the best, I never mentioned the idea of using it for bigger game animals. I've fired both the 7mm and the 270wsm, the 7mm had much more recoil than the .277caliber. I like a lighter rifle especially when I'm hiking into state land for the day. The 270wsm is a lighter rifle to carry. The stock designon my Model 70 Classic Super Grade III also helps in this "greater recoil" caused by it being a lighter rifle. To me this is a non-issue.The concept of a shorter bolt really doesn't mean much like you say and I've killeddozens of deer, with a longer bolt on traditionalchamberings, but the short action is nice and a great concept imho.

Personally I love my new 300wsm over all my other rifles now. She will be my main squeeze and will not "suffer"on animals a step-up from deer but for strictly deer, I would still not hestitate to say the 270 WSM is quite a awesome deer caliber.;)

Fair enough, as I mentioned it has appeal &/or fills niches. Though when the post is 270wsm vs 7mm rem mag I feel that other then deer sized game should be discussed..284/7mm rem mag has merits in the all around category that make it a better choice in my mind then the .277's. Yes, I realized you were talking about deer that iswhy I said "deer aren't picky, 1/4 bore and up work fine".

Choices are always good though.:D
