Remington Mountain Rifle

I'm looking at buying a new bolt rifle in 25.06 caliber. The two i'm looking at are the Rem 700 BDL and the Rem Mountain rifle. My shots will be out to 250yds with maybe a 300yd shot on occasion. How accurate are these two guns especially the mountain rifle with the smaller diameter barrel? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If your set on the 25-06 go the 700 bdl,it will perform a little better in the 24 inch barrel with less muzzle blast.

If you want a light package go the mountain rifle in 260 rem or 7mm-08,these cals will be just as accurate as the 25-06 with less muzzle blast in the shorter barrel.
I've owned a 25-06 & 2 7mm-08's over the years & the 7mm-08 will equal or beat the 25-06 with lighter bullets in the 100-120 grain range,it is accurate at the distances you want to shoot at & performs very well with bullets in the 130- 140 grain range.

260 & 7mm-08
You should serriously look at these 2 calibres as I think they are as good as or even supperior to the 25-06.

Good luck

Go for the Mountain Rifle in 260 Rem.With the 100-120's it'll be so close to the 25-06 you'll never notice the difference in the field.A bonus is the 140's that you can get for the .264" bore. The short action and 22" barrel are very nice to carry. I have a Mountain Rifle in 257 Roberts, although I don't use it much.I also have a stainless Mountain Rifle in 270(don't use it either, man I gotta sell some of these rifles!)I like them both but the short action is more in keeping with the "light and short" concept. Also,I've observed that Remington Mountain Rifles seem to have better value on the used market than the common BDL.

I have a mountain rifle in 257roberts and to say the least I'm not very happy with the way it groups.

THE NRA, WHERE WOULD YOU AS A GUN-OWNER BE WITHOUT THEM.
