500 smith & wesson

I was just wondering how many people have them & what ammo they use & what they use them for ? I use hornadt 350 grain xtp for deer , it shoots great & works well on them .

I don't have one, but I have shot a couple. A friend of mine has one. He whacked a moose with it this fall with a 440gr cast bullet. He was very happy with the performance of his .500 S&W.

I think that gun could kill anything on the planet:D

I would love one. We have a .44 mag butI haven't had a chance to hunt with it. The .500 may be a bit too big for my taste.

I can't wait for Marlin to chamber one of their 1895 Guide Gun lever actions for this cartridge.

Oh, that will be fun. I am getting 2100fps with a 240gr XTP-Mag with my 460, but thats over 50KPSI with a 10.5" barrel. I can't imagine what I could get with a 18 or 22" barrel.

Only reason I am not sure they would addone of these for Levers is the pressure differences and factory ammo out there.
