Bigcountry you just busted me yesterday about the Leupold Varmint reticle? You said they did not work? Now you tell me you want to try the BDC. They are both basically the same. The only difference is that one is a line, and one is a circle. Tom.

Here is yourpost from yesterday:

When you say the VH reticle works great, what do you mean? I have tried them, and they are always off. You can't just use the lines to coorespond to 300yards, and then 400 yards, and 500 yards. For dead zero, they are different on differnet guns for different scope heights. Mil Dot works off the same principle, but at least its a standard where, when one learnsto use, it, they can make accurate determinations, on range.

Maybe a little advanced for you.:D Back to the kiddy table with your Leupold recticle.

Head, for my varmint rifle, where I don't have time to make MOA adjustments with my target turretsand for the wonderful, awesome price of 302 dollars, you bet ya I am going to try one. I don't care if its BDC, or Nikon recticle, 302 dollars, I can't pass up. I am kinda worried that its too good to be true. Thats over 130 cheaper than anyone I can find. Well see when I get it.

What makes entirely no sense about your post head is why would you buy a mil-dot scope if you don't even understand how it works. Made no sense to me. You wouldn't catch me ordering any recticle if I didn't understand the ins and outs. Something don't add up to your post. And don't think I am silly enough to believe I am going to slap this on my 204 and be even close to 3MOA out to 500. All I can hope for is sight it in at the 500 yard point, and count on it being off at 200, 300, and 400.

You find me a mil-dot nikon monarch 5.5-16.5X44mm, for 300 dollars, you bet i will buy it and cancel my order. I can't even get a elite 4200 mildot that cheap.

It was not so much that I did not understand the Mil-Dot, it was more the fact that I was looking for an easy or practical way of using it. I have heard good things, I was merely being honest by saying that I have had no practical experience with the Mil-Dot. I got a really good deal($699) on the 6.5x20 Conquest, which just happened to have the Mil-Dot. I have two Leupolds with the Varmint reticle, and one Burris with the Ballistic Plex. One is on a ML, one is on a 22 LR, and one is on a 223. I have had great luck with them. I also tried to order one of the 5.5x15.5 Nikon's, and I believe they were actually about $20 less than what you said. Since they did not have them I ordered the 3x9, and 4x12. The 4x12 is going on a Custom 10-22, and I gave the 3x9 to a friend for a ML. I hope you get your scope, and I hope the reticle works for you the way mine have for me. I ordered the calculator that you spoke of, and I also ordered a tutorial program for the Mil-Dot. Good luck, Tom.

IMO the best deal on optics is a 3-9x40 Bushnell 4200 for 265$ at SWFA. Leave it to them to prove me wrong, at 218$ 3-9x40 Monach is unbeatable.

Hey guys, have any of you all got your nikon monarchs that you ordered. Still nothing a few weeks later. I am beginning to think this swfa thing was too good to be true.
