Howdy!
This is my second post here and thought I should introduce myself to the forum.
I am Lever, short for Levergun which is what I hunt and shoot with. I like fishing, hunting, shooting, relaoding and mostly shoot Leverguns. I say mostly cause I do have some pistols, shotguns and muzzleloaders. I do leather work for a living and live in the Panhandle of Idaho. I am looking forward to swaping stories with ya'll.;) |

And a word of advise.....Don't ask if the 270 is enough gun to kill elk. LOL its a hot topic. And don't ever bad mouth the 30-06. You'll see what I mean shorty, I'm sure of it. |
RE: Howdy!
Welcome to the forums!
And stay away from those offseason people. Some of them are a little touched in the head.:D |
RE: Howdy!
Of course the .270 is good enough to kill elk. It's all a matter of shot placement. Only people who need to blow the animal up to over compensate for peronal issues would disagree. That's like saying a .17HMR is not enough gun to kill a squirel.;);) Ohhh yea sorry Welcome Lever. :D:D:D

RE: Howdy!
Well, I have often thought about a 270 or a 30-06 as one of my next caliber purchases. I have decided on the 06 for one reason. I want to get it in a Win. Model 95 Levergun.:)
I know I can get a BLR in just about any caliber I want, but to be honest, I not a that fancy to the look of the BLR. If I had to choose one gun to do everything form hunting to home protection, it would be a 12 ga. shotgun with an additional slug barrel. With that, you can drop any animal on the planet out to 200 yards and hunt everything from small mamals and birds to Moose and Bear. And great for home protection. So if anyone asks me what is the best caliber gun made, I will say the 12 ga.;) |
