Turkey shotguns
I was just wondering what you guys think would be the cheapest turkey gun out there that will shoot 3 1/2 inch shells. I am looking for a camo gun. I live in Canada so my choices are limited.

RE: Turkey shotguns
It may well be a Mossberg 835, which also happens to be one of the best turkey guns around. While it may be the least expensive, it is a fine choice. They are relatively light, which makes recoil a bit of a bear, but they carry nicely. The overbored barrel throws a good pattern as well.
You might be able to find a Benelli Nova around the same price, just depends on where you look. |
RE: Turkey shotguns
Probably a Mossberg 835. I have one and it kicks hard. It kicks harder then my .300 Ultra Mag and its worse with 3in slugs then any 3.5in load ive shot yet. If you cant take recoil then i wouldnt recomend it but if you dont mind recoil then they shoot great patterns because of the overbored barrle like Swamp Collie said. If you can spare a little more money then id got with a Remington 870.

RE: Turkey shotguns
Mossberg 835 or Remington 870. And as Retaks so eloquently put it, the 835 does indeed kick harder - so definitely take that into consideration. I have one and the fond memories of the bruising from the 3 and a half inch shells that have been cycled thru it. LOL!

RE: Turkey shotguns
H&R/NEF Single shot 10 guage.
You can pick them up used in the $100-$150 range, throw some better sights or a scope on it...and you have a legitimate 60 yd turkeygun. |

Pro-Line: I love your signature line. I told it to my son, he laughed. We told it to my wife, but it took her a minute.
