I think it is one he** of a price. I want to put it on a Ruger 10-22. I have a question about the adjustments. Does anyone know if the scope has click adjustments? Or is it friction adjustment? The Nikon web site is a nightmare. I do not have any experience with the Leupold VX-I 3 X 9 X 40. How do these two scopes compare? Thanks, Tom. |

Whatever brand scope you get,be SURE that it has adjustable parallax.
All centerfire type of rifle scopes has parallax set for 100-150 yards. With adjustable objective, you can adjust parallax/focus for closer ranges normally assc. with rimfire shooting. That said, leupold is my favorite brand of AMERICAN made scopes. You might look at the leupold 3x-9x efr model. |

Head...I have a 3x9x33 Leupold VX-II Compact on my Remington 541-T....It came from the factory parallex adjusted for 150 yards....I sent it back to Leupold and they adjusted the parallex for me at 75 yards...I can't really say that it makes a great deal of difference but I wanted it changed...This is my main .22 for squirrels and I have killed many at 50 yards with this setup...I don't know if Nikon can have this done for you, might want to check it out...Good Luck

RE: NEW SCOPE FOR 10-22. LEUPOLD vs. NIKON
This is the same scope I have on my 10/22 Deluxe. I've never had a problem with the parallax being set for 150 yards. I've killed a ton of squirrel's and rabbits with mine to no avail. I've got adjustable objective Leupold's on my 280 & 22-250. Most of the time they stay set on 100 yards unless I'm really shooting long distance at some type of critter. The price you list for the Monarch is a good price if the scope is new and not a refurb. I paid $159 for mine but it's a refurb model and I haven't had a lick of trouble with it. For a couple of years it was mounted on a 12 gauge slug barrel and it held up just fine.
