I had one for a while. There pretty fun until the novelty wheres off and your wallet is emtpty from buying ammo! But they are very well made guns. I never had any problems with mine. It jammed for a while but it was because the way I was shooting it. You have to really hang on to them. They even comes with instructions on how to hang on to shoot them! lol

It handles and balances really good its so big that the recoil is tamed pretty well if you are experienced with shooting large handguns, it should be no problem.

i have one in the black and my friend has one in the satin grey. Neither are accruate at all. They look cool and all but i think for the 1200 i spent on myne i could get a MUCH better Kimber or any 2 other pistols that are much more accruate and WAY cheaper than $1.30 per bullet to shoot.

My wife bought a DE 50 before I met her,She took it to the range when we went out there(date),she asked me if I wanted to shoot a big hand gun and I said sure. She pulled it out of her shooting bag and I aboutpeed my paints.Anyway I shot it one time, told her thanks and its been in her gun safe since.
Its a very expencive conversation piece.
My 44mag is as big as a handgun I would ever need.

I used to own one until monetary problems arose stemming from divorce.
It was a lot of fun to shoot, very pleasent as far as recoil concerns, only drawback was ammo cost until I had a supply of fired cases with whish to reload with.
Yes it is a handgun which is more comfortable to shoot with rather large hands.

My thoughts exactly. It seems like nothing more than a novelty to me. It's an interesting design, and it shoots fairly well, but it seems like a gun searching for a use.

I could buy other toys for less money and get more use out of them, so I'll pass on the DE.

RE: Any info on Desrt Eagle .50 AE?

I owned one for two weeks back in 1998. I was not very impressed. First off, the fixed sights were dead on. For 200 yard shooting! It was something like 2 feet high at 25 yards. You could hit the 200 yard gong (36") fairly regularly by holding right on it. And the brass had a tendency to be thrown righ in your face. Not too annoying if it is a 22lr, but those big AE cases get your attention. And it did jam twice over the course of 200 rounds. And as a result of one of those jams, a buddy lost a good bit of thumb meat trying to clear it. All in all I was not impressed in the least with it. Needed to work on the sights, jammed a couple of times, and I couldn't hunt with it here.

Only good thing was when I traded it. I gave a guy $700 for it, and was allowed $950 on trade.
