Steel Shot With Old Gun?

Hey, I have an old winchester model 21 side by side shotgun. My question is if I will be able to shoot steel loads out of the gun? and also does it matter what choke you use when shooting steel shot? thanks a lot.

Jason I wouldn't recommend that you use steel shot in your gun. Older barrels weren't proofed for the much harder steel shot so you could ruin your barrels. Just to be sure though you may want to contact Winchester and ask. Don't shoot steel shot before you do.

I had my full choke honed out to modified so I could use steel in my goose barrel. The honing cost about the same as one box of Bismuth shells.
