NEXT GUN???

I have a .22,shotgun,pistol (44mag), .270, & 45-70

I need somethin smaller than the 270 but not to small
somethin to shoot coyotes maybe deer and somethin thats relatively cheap on ammo(not somethin like the 44 and 4570 were the bullets are outrageous)

Thanks for the help,

Dustin

Buy anNEF.223 single shot with the heavy barrel. This gun is very accurate. Ammunition is plentiful and cheap. Bought one at Gibson's in west Lawton many years ago. It has taken a bunch of coyotes.i often shoot them with the 55 grain military round. They die as if struck by a bolt of lightning.

.243 shoots a 95 grain bullet with 1200 retained foot pounds of energy on out to about 150 yards, minimal but good enough for deer with a well placed shot. 25-06 is another option.

.243 Handi Rifle. You can then eaily add other bbls later on.

Do you still have to send in the handi rifle frame to be fitted with the new barrel?

Get a Savage or Stevens in .243. I have seen a lot of deer killed with them and they also work real good on coyotes. Another option is the Mossberg rifles available from Wal-mart.

Good luck and don't let anyone tell you you can't get a good gun on a budget.

I love the 25-06 but too close to your .270
Spend your $ on reloading stuff.

Savage rifles are the most accurate rifles for the $ and usually otherwise.
Cosidering conditions are well and...
"If you can hold her steady and true",the Savage will connect out to your 600 yard mark.
.243Win is the closest "common&cheap" "smaller bullet"cartridgecompareable to the .270Win

.284 = 7mm
6mm/.284 = Wildcat cartridge based on the .284 Win case necked down to 6mm (.243). It is popular with the accuracy crowd, and an amazing long-range varminter!

You want a bad arse accurate rifle for$300 or less, forranges out to 500 & 600-yards?
Put down the crack pipe & come back down to earth.
You will have to look in pawn shops for a good used rifle.

Good luck
