Thoughts on Rem 25-06

I have a nice browning .270,

but I must bragg on this "CHEAP" Stevens Model 200 25-06 REM, I bought this gun for $280 put some good glass on top and loaded some Federal Premium vital.shok 115 grain nosler Partition in it and was amazed at how good of a grouping it shot.

But what made me put the .270 in the gun case and hunt with the 25-06 is how tight of a group it shot when I loaded some Winchester cxp2 120 grain positive expanding point's in it....

this gun has become my number 1 deer killer.

I must say its ugly as sin with the grey stock, but i'm amazed by the 25-06.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the 25-06, any type gun....or the stevens model 200 25-05?

I have a Winchester ADL 25-06, I absolutley love the gun! I think it is the flatest shooting gun I have ever owned and the grouping I get with it is amazing. I get a little bit tighter with the CXP2 120 gr. than I do shooting the Winchester Ballistic tip silvers!

I have owned a Husquevarna 25-06 for over 20 years and I absolutely love it even though I don't use it as much as I used to. I have killed several mule deer and countless black tail deer with it. I think it is a great caliber.

Couple other things! If you like a fast gun that is soft on the shoulder then you will love this gun!

Hello Bigaggie...I assume you mean KState! the 25-06 is great and you always have the option in later years when the barrel gets worn, ofreaming the action toAckley specs when you install the new barrel...which essentially upgrades it to a 257 Weatherby. Fantastic flat shooting hard hitting Deer and Pronghorn Rifle. I cannot offer a higher grade on a SAMMI deer rifle. Regards, Rick.

The winchester PXP bullet is a deer killing machine.Whenever I had to use factory food That's what I liked.Where did you get the projectiles .I am assuming that you loaded these.I have been using the Hornady BTSP interlocks. Finally getting off of the Ballistic tip fever.

I have aRemington Classic chambered in 25.06 and absolutely love it. It's pure deer poison around here and kills em like lighting. It's an easy caliber to load for that shoots fast and flat and hits the target hard. It also has mild recoil which makes it a pleasure to shoot.

I have a remington 700 in 25-06 and can't say enough about what a deer killer it is. Easy on the recoil and as accurate of a combo as I can shoot. I have not had any problems from this gun in this caliber and highly recommend it. Good hunting!

How far have you guys killed whitetails with a 25-06 ?

Is it effective at 300-350 yards ?

I have a T/C Encore in the 25-06..a real tack-driver! 300-400 yard shotsare common for pronghorn out west,it will do the same thing on deer...

439 yds was the farthest kill I have had with a 25-06 Rem.It was a antelope shot with 115 gr Hornady SP.He was dead in his tracks.Killed my biggest mulie with the same gun 31 1/2 wide and Gross BC 189 7/8's weiged 218 lbs on the rail(head, horns, hide).
I have and have had many 25-06's and all have been shooters but the Stevens 200 proved to be a suprise with 1/2 groups.
I have 2 one in 25-06 and one in 300 win Mag both shoot well.
No finer deer round out there IMHO.

I have never even seen a Stevens rifle.

IMHO the 25-06 is perfect for deer or antelope.

I got the Tika T3 in the 25-06 and put all my other guns in the safe. Great light, long range gun.

The flat shooting nature of the .25-06 comes in real handy for this. Those power lines are very weary.[8D]

I also have a Tikka T-3 in 25/06. It's a keeper. Deer are very sad when I show up with it in hand.

I have NEVER seen a winchester ADL. Remington makes the 700 ADL.
