FN FAL for hunting

Just wondering how many of you guys if any have ever carried a FAL for hunting. I've always been a fan and lover of these weapons although not as popular in the US. I prefer the shorter carbine versions of it however but although I havent used one yet for deer I think they could be a fine rifle for the situation. good caliber, reasonable weight(with alum. receiver), not as big an investment as a .308 AR(usually)

I have experience with two different Fal and alsoa SAR-4800.
All will hold 2MOA with junk ammo.
One is scoped and will easily shoot under 1MOA without adjusting Regulator.
You gain a little accuracy with more recoil "locking" it down.
Not really worth the trade off unless you are shooting beyond 400 yards.

I don't usually hunt with them but I have with success in the past.

Well, the good thing about an FAL is that it will handle hotter loaded .308 ammo;whereas rifles likethe M1/M1A dont do well with the hotter loaded commercial ammo as there is a chance of bending/breaking the op-rod. Garand actions tend to be a bit more accurate, and I find, have a better feel. That being said, the FAL should do fine as a hunting rifle if you can find low capacity mags legal in your state.

There's also that ridiculous suitcase handle to carry it to the stand with:D

I've killed some with an SKS so I'm sure the Fal will do just fine. It's not the gun so much as the hunter, and I think the little handle is cute !
