7mm Ultra mag
I have read ballistic charts and seen the velocities, energy, and how flat the7mm ultra mag shoots, but I want to hear from somebody that owns one or has at least shot one. How bad does it kick? How does it perform on game? How accurate? Is it really that much better than a 7 rem mag? I am thinking of buying one and would be using it for deer and elk.

RE: 7mm Ultra mag
Well, I bought one today. I haven't shot it yet but will be shooting it tomorrow.
The cartridge dwarfs my 7mm Rem. Mag. It makes my 7mm Rem Mag cartridge look like a 243. I am going to post for some help also.
I bought the Rem Scindero.

RE: 7mm Ultra mag
This depends a lot on whether you handload or use factory loads.Factory loads are very mild and only offer around 3400 fps while handloads will be in the 3500 to 3600 fps range for most rifles. As far as performance it works great on all game up to and including elk and moose.Recoil is about equal to a 300 win mag in my rifle.Iwould not even bother buying one if you do not intend to reload as the 7mm rem mag with some factory loads are only about 200 fps slower. Some of the hotter 7mm stw factory loads are actually producing as much or more velocity than the mild factory remington 7mm ultra loads.
