Just remember folks drug dealers deal in grams and shooters deal in grains and you never want to mix the two. :D

Lots of hunters don't know the answer to this question. Shoot even some sales people don't know. I was in a place once and they guy told me buy the 180gr bullets because they have more powder in them. Oh well I thought.

Does that gr stand for "grams" as in the weight of the bullet itself or "grains" as in how much powder is in there.

Neither one, actually! The term "Grain", as used in U.S. ammunition terminology, is for a unit of weight, the GRAIN. There are 7000 GRAINS weight to a pound and 15.42 grains per gram.

Theterm "grain" can beconfusing, because we also sometimes refer to one little piece of propellant powder as a "grain". However, this use of the term is actually incorrect.

Unless you live in a country that uses the metric system! Thereshooters deal in GRAMS as well.......
