Lots of hunters don't know the answer to this question. Shoot even some sales people don't know. I was in a place once and they guy told me buy the 180gr bullets because they have more powder in them. Oh well I thought.

ORIGINAL: metaldonnieg Say for instance we're talking about a 130 gr .270 cartridge. Does that gr stand for "grams" as in the weight of the bullet itself or "grains" as in how much powder is in there. I can't believe I've gone all this time not really knowing the real meaning of that... Theterm "grain" can beconfusing, because we also sometimes refer to one little piece of propellant powder as a "grain". However, this use of the term is actually incorrect. |
