Remington 1100

I would like opinions on the performance of this gun. 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch modifed choke. Good duck gun in the past. How about for geese and deer?

Any comments??

My favorite all time Shotgun Best small game and skeet gun you can own.
Not a good Duck gun
we used them for a long time hunting at hog island of the NC coast then went to 870s and finaly to Bennelis
all i can say is take a can of WD40 with you if you use a 1100 they will not change shells in a salt air damp enviroment or raining

Can you elaborate? This sounds like the voice of experience talking.

I would get a Remington 870 magnum and buy a rifled slug barrel with a cantilever scope mount if you plan on deer hunting. 870's are known for their reliablity. Just my 2 cents........

I have shot 10's of thousands of rounds at skeet with 1100's. Because of it's muzzle heavy balance, the 1100 is (for most people) a natural pointer, and because of the gas operation it hasrelatively mild recoil. If one uses it hard, the gas ports must be kept clean and the o-ring on the tubemust be replaced frequently. But, it is unlikely that the average hunter will shoot one enough to have to worry about that. I highly recommend the 1100.

I have one...Bought it around 1975....Have killed deer, ducks, geese, squirrels, rabbits, crows...You get the picture...Like most semi-autos, keep it clean and it will function...If you are the type guy that cleans his gun once a decade, it will jam, like most semis that I have owned...With a 1100 and a couple different barrels, you can hunt practically everything that needs to be hunted...Mine is under my bed right now just in case an intruder decides to break into the "wrong" house....So that's how much I trust it...

And...it is still in production...
