new moose gun help?
 
hey guys I need some help I am going to be getting a new moose, this gun will be used about 95% of the time for moose..maybe in the future kill some big old bear, but for now only moose, I have a Browning 30-06 auto aswell..but I want new gun so these are my choices .338 or .300 are my caliber choices now I am looking for a rifle less than $600, right now its between tikka, and browning bolt actions but I am open to any other options and opinions

HOWA 1500 in .338 Win Mag. I know there is going to bea lotof people saying,use the -06, don't, the .338 will down a moose a lot better.

Where i hunt moose, shots can be far. I mean real far. I used a 30-06 once, a 300RUM another time, and now will take my 7mmSTW. But, a 338 is not a bad choice.

7mm STW, is an awesome long range caliber, big.

.300 and .338 Win Mag, are both excellent calibers, for hunting large game.

I can't say I have ever seen a hunter carry a 338 in Newfoundland where I go. But if I was hunting in BC or Alaska, I might consider it for a good combo rifle.

I find that odd, I thought the .338 was one of the premier cartridges, to use in Canada.
