my friend brought a gun to camp this week..he called it a...schmit rubin i kno it was something with an S and rubin...it was in 7.5mm and an old military gun...its a bolt action i guess u could call it..the bolt moves by itfelf you just pull if straight back and puch it forward to feed another round it..the saftey was a ring on the back of the bolt..the gun was pretty neat...and really accurate..we were nailing beer cans at 50 yds away standing free hand with the open sights it had...he said he can get me one for like 100 bucks or so..anyone know about them and can tell me more? can i find a good deer hunting bullet in 7.5mm factory loaded? any sights you know of that has info on it or the gun? thanx alot...i kinda like the gun and maybe buy one...i like military guns for some reason...

7.5mm factory loaded could be almost impossible to find. maybe someone that specializes in obselete ammo would have it. though i have seen the gun yuo are talking about on tv, very interesting design. i couldnt even find bullets for it with a quick scan thru midwayusa

yes, it is a Swiss military rifle. They are supposed to be very well made, and accurate. The 7.5 is ballistically very close to the .308 Winchester. I'm not sure of the availability of ammo, if I were you I would check places like Midway, Natchez, Midsouth... you might even check Cheaper Than Dirt... they have a lot of milsurp ammo. Old Western Scrounger will probably have it, but they are pricey....

I wouldn't recommend Old Western Scrounger to anyone. I had some of their 222Rem Mag reloaded ammo it was the poorest excuse for ammo I have ever shot. Luckily I didn't buy it. I got it in a trade with the rifle. The person I traded gave over $20 a box for it. I've seen S&R brass and 7.5 bullets somewhere, but forgot where.

yes it is swiss i remember my friend saying that...and the design is really cool..the round looks like a fat maybe a bit shorter 30-06...i still cant believe the accuracy...if i can find some psps or hps or anything good for deer that is going on the xmas list...i doubt i will my friend said he paid alot for the 40+ year old stuff he bought for it..its definently a neat rifle to say the least!

Isn't Hornady coming out with 7.5 Swiss brass & ammo, as well as a number of other old-time military sizes like the 7.65X 53mm ? As for the Old Western Scrounger, he is the ONLY source for a number of obsolete calibers, and his RWS made ammo is as good as it gets!!
