Come on guys, he said he is just out of high school.
The 45-70 is a great choice. I load my standard loads arond 1300 fps with a 405 grain bullet. I think the recoil is quit light, and I can assure you the load is deadly. I think you should get the 30-30 also. I think you should strive to get them all. Tom. |

I don't like the 270 for close in stuff either, too much meat damage and sometimes I'v had bullet blow up and poor penetration. I know that a different bullet could solve those problems, but why ruin a real good excuse to buy another gun. The 30-30 is likely all you need, but you'll love that 45-70 when you get it.

.35 rem is best for close up brush shots.I shot a nice Buck at 100 years.The bullet of my .REM went through a 8 inch tree and still passed threw the deer.Buy the .35 rem
