picked up a savage .270 and right out of the box...
It was one of those that comes packaged with the Simmons scope, Anyway, I decided to give it a test shot to make sure everything is working so I took it to the back yard and set up a folgers coffee can and walked 25 steps (and since i'm almost 6'1" i figured this was close to 25 yards?) the bullet punched a very clean hole through both sides of the can exactly where i was aiming and the can didn't even budge. I was using the cheapest ammunition the shop had, some soft point 130 grain Federals.
I'm assuming this is a good sign? |

I am sure the Savage will shoot well. They just do. The scope will last a while but I would start thinking about a better scope soon. Something like the Nikon Pro-Staff or Bushnell 3200.

savages are usually extremely accurate, i would consider a upgrade of scopes like the gentlman above me said and if u want too shoot even better, upgrade ammo

It's true that there are better scopes out there, but some so called cheep scopes will last for years. Just because it didn't cost $600 doesn't mean it will not hold up. If money is no object I'd replace the scope, but if it is like me, I'd wait until I had a reason.

Hell yeah, I love Savage, best bargain on the market besides the HOWA 1500.

I've never seen one that wouldn't shoot with the high dollar guns.
Scope should be upgraded ASAP, unless you want to have deer walking past at 45 yards, right at sunset, and not be able to see them through the scope. |

SWFA has 3x9 Burris Fulfield II scopes for $160. I have heard that they are very nice scopes for the lower cost. Savages are very nice rifles, very accurate.
