30.06...Need help finding what i want.

Ok, for next season I have decided to get a 30.06. The trouble I am having is finding one with everything I want. I want a bolt action with a detachable mag. I also want it stainless with a thumbhole stock. What brands would you recommend? Any and all help is appreciated.

I'm asking this out of curiosity, why do you want a thumbhole stock? Just want to know your thought process on that. Personally, you couldn't give me a rifle with thumbhole stock.

Browning makes the A-Blot stainless M-1000 Eclipse , which is a thumbhole stock , and has a detctchable mag.

Visit their website and give it a look.

God Bless

I like the feel of the thumbhole. I can hold it better.

If you don't have any objection to doing a little work, you could buy a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker then get an after-market thumbhole sporter stock. Like this:

Might be cheaper too. MSRP of the eclipse is about $1200. MSRP of the stainless stalker is about $900. New Ross thumbhole stock is $80 on the link I just gave you. You do the math.

It's funny you mention that. I was just looking at that exact gun and I liked what I saw. So far it's the front runner

Just a thought on that thumbhole stock. I've shot 3 bucks over the years(once this year) that came up on my far right side and to shoot them I had to transfer my rifle over to my left side and shoot left handed. I would think a thumbhole stock would make this much harder. I like thumbhole stocks but not on my hunting rifles.

Have you looked into or ever handled the more "pistol grip" style stocks? They let you're hand rest in a more upright postion like a thumbhole but don't restrict like a thumbhole can sometimes. (what jd3006 is a great example)

Have several styles. Thumbhole and the type I'm speaking of. If you're gonna go the way or restocking something they've got alot of options and very good prices.
