Used Guns - Any Look Good

Looking at buying my first rifle and found a couple posted, let me know what your thought are and if any look like a decent deal

Remington 742, 30.06, with scope and 2 clips, $700 CND
Ruger M77 RS1 MkII 30.06 with scope $675 CND
Savage III 30.06, no scope $500 CND
Browning BLR .270 with scope and extra clip $695 CND
Sako M995 300WinMag with scope $1250 CND

I am kind of set on the 30.06 as I have only shot deer and might possible shoot moose one day.

Be a little careful particularly that the gun is in good working order. It would be best to shoot it first if possible to see if it will group. The other thing I would be looking at is the make of scope. I personally wouldn't pay one cent for a Tasco or any other el-cheapo. Some gun dealers put these things on used guns just to boost the price. You always get what you pay for. Good luck in your search..........

I would look at the Ruger and the Browning BLR,the Sako ain't that bad of a deal depends on what the scopes are.

To make it easier for us USA guys

rem $613
ruger$591
savage$438
browning$609
sako$1096

Thanks for the conversion, that helps immensely.

Pass on the savage, they are good guns, but you can get one new for that price.

Pass on the Remington, unless the scope is really high grade. Then, buy the combo, keep the scope, and sell the rifle.

Honestly, depending on optics, most of these are borderline rip offs.

Tasco or any other el-cheapo.

Is Bushnell concidered el-cheapo?? All these were stated with Bushnell or not stated.

A bushnell can be an El-Chepo or it can be an El-Inexpensivo depends on the model. I've had very good luck with some of their lines like the dusk to dawn.

Out of the list you have there I'd look closer at the Ruger and the Browning. Need to check them out real well. Maybe look online for a used gun buying guide. I'd try to get to shoot a few first before I'd choose.

Problem with shooting isthat I am not a great shot to begin with, with pratice I am sure it will come but my groupings right now would have no indication of how the gun would shoot.

I would think that maybe the guy selling the gun could take some shots and see how his grouping is but if he is just a bad shot as well will give no indication either

Just kidding! But the point of being able to buy a new savage is very true.
