Remington 700 ADL Synthetic

Are these guns the sleeved barrel type?
Seems like I recall reading that somewhere a couple of years ago.
If they are, is there any problem with them?
Thanks for any replies.

The Remington 700 ADL has been discontinued.

The ADL700 was a great gun for the money, you can still find new ones on the internet and some stores,I just seen one at wal mart in 300wm for 389.00 last week. And no they didnt have a sleaved barrel

They replaced it with the SPS. They just changed the stock a little an put 24 inch barrels on them.

All the SPS's I've seen also have a hinged floor plate instead of the blind magazine of the ADL. That's kind of nice.

The SPS's seem to be a heck of a bargain. I've seen them at Sportsman's Warehouse for $439 for the blued and $529 for the stainless.

I use a 700 ADL .30-06 exclusively for deer in rifle season, and I take it plinking occasionally as well. It does not have a sleeved barrel! While it's more of a mid-to-low end Remington, it's a reliable and accurate model. They're no longer manufactured, but they're still widely available both new and used. Good gun for the first-time hunter or someone on a budget.

Used it last week to kill two deer at 140-150 yards with factory Remington Core-Lokts (I get 1.25 to 1.5 inch groups). First with a perfect double lung shot, the next another double lungexcept in behind the left shoulder and out in front of the right one. I think it'sa great rifle for the price.

If you are buying, check Wal-Mart first. I bought one last week in Tennessee, a 270 win. for $364. Great gun, great price.

GCW, thanks for answering my question as to the sleeved barrel.
Construction Worker asked what is a sleeved barrel. Maybe you can answer his question better than me. About all I know is it is a two-part barrel. One part containing the bore is put into a second part like a sleeve. I don't know if remington is still doing that. I may even be mistaken that it was remington that did it a few years ago. Why did they do it that way? I don't know. Perhaps a cheaper way to produce barrels??
