Remington 7600

I was at Walmart today and saw this Remington 7600 pump action 30-06 on their display. I took it out and looked it over real good and really liked what I saw. I have never owned a pump action rifle before nor have i shot one, I only have bolt actions. Does anyone have any idea on if there good guns and how do they perform. I understand that there not new to the market and that they have been around for a long time, but there new to me and was very interested in this firearm. Anyone with info.??? I'm all ears and would love to hear from you..
Thanks Again.

Excellent weapon.

Not as reliable as a bolt action, but way more reliable than a semi-auto. I've never heard many problems with them. I've never owned one, but have shot one many times. Only problem I had with it, was that my mind wanted to believe it was a shotgun, and therefore I caught myself standing like I was shooting a shotgun. Probably just me though, I'm sure that's easily correctable if it even is a common problem.

I have a 7600 in 270. I have had it for 15 years. I have taken several deer and even more woodchucks with this rifle. Plently of accuracy at 300 yards. The only complaint that i have is the curved buttstock and the lack of a recoil pad. A few years ago I wanted to add a recoil pad, but i had to square the stock first. I did not feel comfortable modifying my rifle like this so i did not adda recoil pad. I am going to sell mine after deer season.

Good, dependabls and accurate. That pretty well describes the 7600.

I have one in .280 and I love it it's a great gun. I've also had the semi-auto version and it was a piece of crap.

Somewhat loose forearm, and a tad rattely... was my impression of one. Working the action is pretty loud, louder than a lever or bolt - I think this matters, sometimes, when deer hunting. Odd place for front swivel. Other than that... I'd buy one, if it were a good enough deal. Is Walmart giving it a fire-sale price?

I used to have one. Very pretty gun and was a decent shooter. My only complaint was it was the hardest kicking gun I have ever shot! Mine was in 30-06 as well. I also had a savage 110E in 30-06 and it was much better with recoil.

To be honest the savage was about half the price and shot better, it just wasn't as pretty.
