Suggestions for a Left Handed Rifle
I am interested in buying a deer rifle. I am an eastern hunter and long shots are not the norm. Problem is that after years of shooting right handed, I have decided to purchase a weapon that suits my dominate eye, which is my left.
I was considering a remington Model 7 chambered in .308 but I have not seen any that are left handed. Can anyone give me some suggestions for a nice LEFT-HANDED rifle? As I have mentioned I would like to have it chambered in .308. However, I may be willing to pick another caliber if it opens up more options. Thanks. |

RE: Suggestions for a Left Handed Rifle
wow another lefty! Welcome to the forums! I have searched and bought many lefthanded rifles and the ones that I currently own are all Savage and Ruger. Ruger makes a nice blued or stainless M77 in the basic calibers of 25-06,270,30-06,7mm, and 300 Win. Savage has a little more choices and is just as nice of a gun. They have the same calibers plus you can get 338 win, 7mm-08, 243, 308 etc. checkout both companies web sites for full specs I think Savage is www.savagearms.com and ruger is www.ruger.comIf I were going to purchase one lefthanded bolt action for everything I would suggest the Savage all weather (stainless composite stock) in 30-06 or 7mm rem mag. You can get one for about $400-$450. Good luck and shoot me a pm if you have any more questions.

RE: Suggestions for a Left Handed Rifle
Browning, Remington, Savage, and Ruger all make great left-handed rifles. Mine are Browning and Savage. I like the accuracy, trigger, and 60 degree bolt throw on the Brownings. I like the feel and the accuracy of the Savages. I think Savage has the best selection and they are designed so that changing barrels/caliber is very easy.

I did not plan on spending more than a grand.
By the way, does anyone know if the Remington Model 7 was made in a left hand version??? I |
RE: Suggestions for a Left Handed Rifle
Model 7-No. I even tried to order a Custom Shop, they said no. I just bought a left handed thumbhole stock Encore, with a 24 inch 30-06 barrel, and I really like it. Tom.

RE: Suggestions for a Left Handed Rifle
Tikka has come back with a left handed offering in a T3(late fall). I believe .308 win was one of the chamberings they were offering as well.
I am a southpaw my preference is LH Rem 700's. I also own a LH Browning SS Stalker. Like mentioned Savage and Ruger offer a number LH rifles. I think you'll find most manufacturers that produce LH models will have a .308win offering for you to consider. Good luck |
