Default .270 question

i was wondering if anyone knows how high a .270 shoots at 50 yards if its zero is at 200. the bullets are 130 remington core lotks. i sighted it in at 50 yards and it was 1.5 high. i was wondering if itspossible to sight in a gun by knowing the ballistics and adjusting accordingly without actually shooting. i want to have my gun zero at 200 so if anyone knows how high a .270 shoots at 50 when its zero is at 200, it would be helpful. i know this is kind of like working backwards or something and im sorry if it's a little confusing. thanks.

I really recommend shooting at 100 yards if you are getting a 200 yard dope.

I would never sight a rifle in at less than 100 yards. The difference between 50 and 200 is a total unknown in the real world. You could be anywhere form right on to 10 inches off.

Using the numbers provided by montanavet, zeroed at 200 you would be .5" high at 50 yards.

As mentioned I would strongly encourage you to sight in at 100 yards and I perfer to fine tune my sight in at 200 yards on a gun that I might be shooting that far or further with. There can big some pretty big differences from 50 to 200 yards so the further out you can sight in at, the better.

In the vicinity of 2" high at 50 yards. Depends on the height of your scope above the center of the bore, and possibly some additional factors about your specific rifle............. To find out for sure, you MUST ZERO your rifle at 200 yards, then actually shoot it at 50 yards.

Sorry, I should learn to read better. Here is from a ballistics calculator I have had good success with. I tape mine on the inside of my rear Butler Creek Flip-up cap and also try to remember them for fast shots.1/2 inch high at 50 yards should be zero at 200 yards for your setup. Remember, if you are hitting dead center on a 1 inch bullseye, that is only at the top edge or line on the bullseye. Higher changes everything. MV out!
