I hvaen't noticed a huge rise either......Swede's still cost me about $25 a box, and .35 Whelen for my dad about $40. Been like that for as long as I've been interested in hunting.

I ordered bullets, and five boxes of 30-30 shells from Cabela's yesterday. Both had a price increase. Sales person said it was due to metal price increases? Tom.

I have a 280 Rem and a 7x57 mauser both prices went way north. I did buy the Rem core locks for the Mauser and they were $21 dollars a box. I think they were $12 to $15 not to long ago.
I checked out some web sites to make sure. Horandy ammo is still in the low $20 range. Thinking about trying it. If it shoots well I am going to buy a case.

Shotgun sabots went up a whole lot too. Some of the premium slugs went from 13-14 per box of 5 to 17-18 bucks!

judging from my old manager (more or less) job at a sign company it seems everything is going up. we had to raise our prices about 10-15% last year just to keep up.

With a name like "Canman1", I'm assuming you are Canadian and talking about Canadian dollars, right? What's the exchange rate?

Is part of the supply/demand issue related to metal usage forammo being shipped to our troops overseas?

The metal price increase is due to China buying up huge amounts of metals for their enormous economic boom. Their economy is increasing about 10% a quarter, an astronomical amount. And they're buying up all the metals and other resources they can from around the world to supply it. This has caused prices to rise since mining companies can't keep up with the demand. If you don't believe me, compare the price of copper wiring today with a few years ago, it's gone up several hundred percent. I actually work in the mining industry, and have seen the mining boom first hand.

This is exactly right... China/India are going through their industrial revolution.. they're buying up all of the brass, steel, copper, lead, ect..

Also alot of the Nato rounds are going over seas to our troops.. that's why you can't find Wolf .223 and other cheap ammo as easily as you could before.

ipscshooter, I am from Mississippi. I think something else is at play. Kinda like the gas companies getting what they want. Only on a much smaller scale.
