Winchester Trigger Adjustment

Hello All,

I have a Model 70. Does someone have a step by step instruction on adjusting the trigger weight?

Also how much is a trigger gauge?

Is this something that can be easily screwed up?

Thanks

Tom

Take the action out of the stock. Look at the trigger , There is a spring with a screw that pushed it with a jam nut holding the screw. Loosen the jam nut loosen the screw when happy tighten the jam nut. You have just accepted all responsibility!

Take the trigger mechanism out. 2 screws on each side. There will be 3 small nuts (7/16 it think). One on the bottom by itself and 2 tightented together. The lone nut by itself adjust the creep. The two nuts together adjust the trigger weight. Make sure to put some finger nail polish or glue back on the nuts after you break them loose to adjust. Other wise they will creep loose after shooting a good bit and could cause your gun to go off unexpectedly.

Anybody have a fully illustrated step-by-step instructions for adjusting the trigger?

The accutrigger looks cool. I may buy a savage one day. Hopefully they will come out with better stocks and do something about that large nut thats between the barrel and action.

i just bought the savage 116fxp last week. im going to site it in later this week, so im not sure if i even need to adjust it. the intructions are pretty much what everyone has said above as whats in the manual with the gun. there is not much to changing it.

I tried making the adjustment today and it didn't go very well. The trigger was easy enough to understand but I each time I got the weight where I want it I couldn't get the sear to engage.

I did have to clip one of the coils on the spring because at it's lowest setting it was still too heavy.

I'm taking it to a smith tomorrow. I know the guy so he should be cool with me having tried it myself.
