favorite bullet for whitetail
I am new to gun hunting (just shot my first couple deer with a shotgun).
I was looking at some land where I may be able to hunt with a rifle and was wondering what everyones favorite whitetail round was.
I am kindoff partial to smaller rounds. Is a .223 to small of a round for a farther (200-300 yard) shot?

The 223 is legal in our state but its on the small side. My personal minimum is the 100 grain bullet from a 25 caliber. Were I to use a 223, I would limit shots to 200 yatrds max and then only with the Barnes bullet or the Nosler Partition.

As far as bullet I prefer the Nosler Ballistic tip for deer, due to accuracy and longer ranges may be required here on the prairies.
