7MM-08 SPS

I finally picked it up today. It came in late then the store lost track of it for a couple weeks. I called yesterday and they had found it again so today I went and brought it home. To my suprise the trigger on this one won't even require adjusting. I mounted my 2.8X10 Aetec scope on it and stuck the bore sighter in it. Tomorrow, weather permitting I will try it out with a box of 140 Ballistic tips. I plan to load 120 TXS for hunting deer if my foot heals in time to go hunting.

I load both 140gr and 120 gr TSXBs for my 7mm08. No finer white-tail deer hunting cartridge around! And those TSX bullets are just NASTY on everything!

James...Good luck with the new toy..

My 700 Mountain Rifle in 7-08 has always grouped well with 140 ballistic tips and I've had good luck on deer with them..However this year after reading rave reviews on the 120 TSX ( and having excellent results in another rifle with the Barnes X) I decided to try some..

With RL-15, my rifle groups the 120 TSX around an inch at 100 yards...MV is around 3000 FPS... All I've shot with it so far is a coyote, but I'm hoping to test it out on a PA whitetail this season..

Sounds good. The SPS has a 24 inch barrel so it should make the most of this great caliber. I was after something with plenty of whap for Mule deer without that pesky recoil. Its comes down to the 7MM-08 or 270. Followed by the 260 and 280. And of course the 6.5x55.
