a little help sighting in my gun
 
i bought a new sakko 243 for $450.00 brand new never shot and i was wondering if i did ok on the deal. i plan on using it in the fields for long range and and my ruger 30-06 185gr in the woods and i was wondering to save some shells if my gun is shooting to the left do i turn the scope right or left. thanks for all your help.

You move the scope in the dierction you want to bullet to go. If the bullet is left you movr the scope to the right, if it's low you move the scope up.

Have you broke in your barrel on this gun? The way this gun will shoot in the future depends on how you break the barrel in now. Just a thought.

The .243's energy levels might merit some examination for it's effectiveness in 'long range' shooting of whitetails; I believe it's retained energy might be a little low much beyond 250-275 yards, with a few factory Remington loads not even rated at 1000 ft pounds at 300 yards with a 24" bbl, where as your -06 will not suffer this malady until 400+ yards.

Although I've not personally used this caliber, I'm sure it will get the job done, and a close friend has never lost a whitetail with one, albeit with carefully chosen broadside shots.
