REMINGTON GUN QUESTION

i have narrowed it down between two guns that i going to buy. it is
either a remington 700 sps or a 7400 semi auto. i would like to know how each one of these guns are. what do you like or dislike about these two guns. how well do each of them shoot? thank you for the help.

RE: REMINGTON GUN QUESTION

Depends on the use. Are you putting a scope on the 7400? Does the 700 have open sites (I don't think they do)? are you going to be shooting longer distances where accuracy will be critical? What will you be hunting?
The auto is better for short distance where a quick follow up shot may be needed. The bolt is better for longer distance where solid lockup and a higher level of accuracy may be needed. If you're shooting big game on the ground, an auto should never be used because of the less dependable gas ejecting system as opposed to the dependable bolt extraction/ejection features.............and on and on and on. They each have their plus/delta features. It depends more on what you'll be doing with the rifle and what you'll expect to acomplish with it.

I've had both. The 7400 was a pain in the ass. Kept jamming and the clips never did fit right which would cause it to not strip another round for the follow up shot.

I'd go with the SPS it's a much better value for only $400.

I would go with the 700 sps myself,as it is by far more reliable.

I agree with stubble, the SPS would be more far reliable in more adverse conditions, and will be more accurate.

7400 is a decent rifle but you will be alot better off with the 700.You need to find someone you know who has both and try em' out. The 700 is what I would choose. Try a 270.

I would also go with the 700. Some states will not permit semi auto rifles for hunting.
