Cleaning Question
Hi, I'm new to this forum, and have a question, I cleaned my .308 about a month ago, used copper cleaner and got it really clean, after I finished I checked the bore for any grit that may have been left over, there wasn't any, but when I got my .308 out today and checked it over for the upcoming deer season, I noticed a couple of particles or something about midway down the bore, I didn't think it was possible because I saw nothing in the bore when I put it up, whatcould these particles be? , should I be worried? Thanks.

RE: Cleaning Question
You are supposed to use nylon bristle , not brass or bronze brushes when using copper cleaners. The ammonia in the copper cleaner eats the bristles and leaves particles in the barrel,
Hope this helps |

RE: Cleaning Question
ORIGINAL: Chantecler111 Yeah, I freak out pretty bad as well, lol, I think its just lint or something, so I'm not gonna mess with it, I know its not powder or copper. At least I'm not the only person who is obsessed with things like that.:D Also, if you didn't know this. You should lightly oil your bore after cleaning. Just put some oil on a clean patch and run it down the bore then run a clean dry patch down it. |
RE: Cleaning Question
Brutal, I just ran a clean patch through, and found the particles to be nothing more than a little lent, I guess I'm going crazy after all, I knew I got it clean when i originally did it. Thanks for the input guys, otherwise, I would have spent all night worrying about it.
