RE: Good Rifle for Overweight man
Goodness, thats pretty sad. I hope he can get some help. Since he is confined, I guess he cannot practice much and in a chair might be taking the full brunt of the recoil. I would say a 7mm08. Maybe a 6mm.

RE: Good Rifle for Overweight man
Magnum, perhaps you could adapt one of those portable gun rest which could swing and pivot to help him control whatever he decides on getting. Or maybe just a scabard to hold the rifle while he manuvers the chair. I do think the moderate calibers you mentioned would be best. Good luck

Magnum, look at those portable benches that Cabellas sell, I think the gun rest part may be simple to duplicate, that is where the thought came from when I read your post. |

RE: Good Rifle for Overweight man
Have you had him hold a one of your rifles yet? He made need a shortened or 'youth' stock. If he's 760lbs I'ma gonna guess he's got some chest fat that might make a shorter stock necessary.

I also think that the stock's fit will be something you need to customize to fit him. If it fits well he will shoot it better and enjoy shooting more. Another soft recoiling round to look at would be a .260.
