22-250 or 223

I am thinking about buying either a 22-250 or 223 in a Savage rifle just wondering which one will likely or probobly be more accurate i have a savage in 243 and it shoots great i love it not a pretty gun but man it shoots with a little trigger work. I guess i just want to know which round is traditionally more accurate

Both are very accrate rounds. You couldn't go wrong with either. I personally have a 22-250 and it shoots very good 1/2" 5 shots groups or smaller, if I do can do my part. That said, I think that the 223 is easier to get that kind of accuracy from though. Will you be reloading or using factory ammo? If your reloading there is not much difference. The 223 is cheaper to reload though.

Good Luck.

definatly .223 then, the ammo selection will be wider, and cheaper, especially cheap milsurp plinking ammo.
as for the accurage potential. its about the same and will pretty much be dependent on the gun

save the world, reload your brass

RE: 22-250 or 223

I've owned both, and the 22-250 has better ballistics. That said, the 223 isn't bad either, and is much cheaper to shoot. I've heard of several barrels being "shot out" that were chambered in the 250. The 223 creates much less head pressure.

I now have a 223 and love shooting it.

I have both of them and it would be very hard to say one was more accurate than the other one. I find I shoot the 223 more ,but tht is because it is a smaller, lighter rifle . If your buying the factory ammo you might want to stay with the 223 ,because it is more economical to shoot.

I have both also and very accurate! Since you don't reload go with the .223 and save on the cost of ammo...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

You didn't say what you'd be using the rifle for. If it's just for plinking, I'd go with the .223. But if you are hunting varmints get the 22-250.
