new gun
i already own a T/C Black Daimond (muzzleloader), Remington 870 12 g. and a Remington mod. 597 .22LR. I am looking to get a new gun, probably a rifle, maybe evensomething with some historical value (assuming its not too much). it will most likely be used for taget shooting, maybe the occaisonal coyote or deer. i am not 21 yet, so i cant get a hand gun. i was wondering if anybody had any input. One thing i am considering now is a Marlin 1894. let me know what you all think...thanks!

RE: new gun
I think that a .243 caliber would work great for deer and coyote, but not really a true classic brand/model in that caliber that stands out. If you were looking at just a classic rifle for deer hunting a Marlin or Winchester levergun in .30-.30 would fit the bill for closer range shooting. A good .243 from Remington, Savage, Ruger, etc...would be a good target and hunting rifle for your needs. Good luck finding what you want, as there are many options.

RE: new gun
You could buy an M-1 Garand from the government for under $100 if you get one that's a bit used, I think a nice one would cost almost $240 or something, if you want to check it out, go to a U.S. Army armory, and they should have them there.
BTW the M-1 Garand is a 30-06, but it shoots a specific grain only. |
