I own 2 Rem. 700's, one in .223 & one in 30/06, & they shoot fine.
Last year I bought a Tikka t3 lite in .243. The quality is better, the action is smoother & the trigger is fantastic. Also, it shoots cloverleafs at 100 yds. all day. Go with the Tikka.

10-4 guys. Thanks for the oppions. I went and traded my gun in this aft and looked at several different ones including the rem, t3, and savage. The bolts on the savage areway to clunky. They aren't smooth enough for my liking. They are said to be very accurate and I liked the trigger system. The bolts are no comparison to the rems or tikka. I like the rem but ended up going with the t3. Seemed like you got more for you money. They didn't have a black on black which is what I wanted. The only 300wsm they had was camo stainless. It was 100 more than the black on black but I figured just do it and get it over with. It does look pretty cool I must say. I'm going to go test it out tomorrow. It's definitly lighter than the mod 70 was. Maybe it won't whoop me to bad. I'll keep you posted.

You defianetly made the right choice. Any of the rifles you mentioned are "o.k.", but the Tikka is ahead of the Remington and worlds ahead of the Savage.

i recently purchased a tikka t3 in a .243 and it is by far the smoothest shooting gun ive ever owned for the money the best you can buy...........

I purchased a Ruger this year in 300WM that does the exact same thing. I don't think it is manufacturer specific. I bet more barrel specific and maybe a result of a hot round like a 300. I'm also disappointed with my purchase but I'm going to live with it.

I couldn't live with mine. I want to kill something not wound it or miss. That's all I would have done. It was just to iffy on weather it would hit or not. It's hard to go from a 270 that touches every shot to a gun that wasn't even in the ball park. I'm going this aft to test out my new Tikka. I'll let you know my results

I thought you said that your first two shots are money then it starts to move. I've only once taken more than one shot and mine moves but maybe about 2". I think I can definetly make good clean shots with it.

I did say that...I guess I should have said occasionally it hits 2 and then starts walking. THats on a good day. Sorry didn't mean to sound sarcastic. I wish mine was only moving 2". More like 4-6-8-3...drove me crazy.

I shot my tikka at the range today but only got 4 shots off. Apparently it wasn't bore sighted yesterday at the shop. I took 2 shots at 100, 1 at 50, and finally touched paper at 25...then the rain got us. I was cleaning in between shots and I jsut didn't have alot of time. It started drizzeling and the show was over. I will say this. It didn't kick near as much as my win mod70 that I traded off did. I was expecting it to be worse since its a good bit lighter. Very smooth and crisp trigger. I am impressed with that part so far. I'm going bow hunting tomorrow and sat so it will be Sunday before I get to shoot it again.
