.340 weatherby magnum question...
So here is my question,
- I have a friend who asked me if i was interested in buying his Mark V, .340 weatherby magnum, he said he had a few boxes of shells that i could have too. I asked him how much he wanted for it, and he said that he didn't care, just too look around and see how much a used one cost and he'd cut a deal with me. Says the gun is in great condition, composite stock, older guy who doesn't need the firepower anymore and feeling pretty generous i guess, lol. I am looking for a heavy hitting, big game rifle so this was def good timing. I am planning to go to africa and alaska next year if i can pull it off, and i would be awesome to take this along. So what do you guys think a fair price would be? |
RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
What model is it?There are a few composite stocked models and the price will vary. Before you buy it ,shoot it and see how you feel about the recoil.

RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
I am not acutally sure of the model, not too worried about it, says he has a wood and composite stock for it, the barrel has a boss sytem on it and i am used to high power rifles... so not worried about recoil.

RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
The .340 is not a round for everybody. Even if you're used to shooting you might want to test it first. And if you don't handload the Weatherby ammo is quite expensive. Awsome round though.

RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
Yeah recoil is not an issue, and the guy is giving me something like 4/5 boxes of ammo also so overall it is a killer deal.

RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
To give you a fair price we still need to know what style of Mark V it is. I own a Weatherby Mark V Sporter in .340 Wby. Mag., and I am extreamly happy with it. Also, ask your friend how it landed up with the BOSS System. Good luck.

RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
I thought that Weatherby used the Accu-Brake system?
|
RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
I would be very surprised if it has a BOSS system installed.More likely just a muzzle brake. But who knows what some people will do.

RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
hmm that is a great point, thanks. I will check into that. He was telling me he put a synthetic stock and a break system on, i thought he said boss, but who knows. He said he would give me the walnut stock also, but that the synthetic was better.

RE: .340 weatherby magnum question...
No Doubt that it would do the job you want done. I had a client that used one for Mule deer every year that he booked. He sure didn't like to shoot it unless he had to. Its more than a match for any plains game or anything running around Alaska.
