Help me choose a .22
I'm trying to decide what .22 to get. I know the 10/22is probably the best .22 out there but I don't want a semi auto. I also don't want a bolt action. I already have an Ithaca .22 mag lever gun so I don't really want a lever gun either.
that leaves a pump and possibly another lever gun. The best pump I can find is the Remington 572. However, I don't want to spend almost $400 on a .22. Any ideas? |
RE: Help me choose a .22
my cousin has a taurus 17hmr pump and it is a shooter and i think he paid 170to180 for it and i have seen them at gun shows for about the same or less for a 22 they are a nice light functional gun i have thought about buying one just to have it to play with

RE: Help me choose a .22
Old Rossi 62A I believe it is. Pump .22 LR. Will also handle shorts and longs. Exposed hammer. My dad has one, pretty neat little shooter. It's was probably made early 80s, one in good to excellent condition can be had for about $150.

Here ya go.. the stock on my dads is much darker. Almost purple lookin'. It's really light and fun though. Its a replica of the Winchester 62A which go for more than double what the Rossi does.

Your options are kinda limited, look at Marlin.

That pump with the exposed hammer is now being made by Taurus I think. They are a pretty good rifle. Its an old Winchester design.

Yeap, thanks. They sure are. Still the most fun rimfire I've ever messed with.

The best pump I can find is the Remington 572. However, I don't want to spend almost $400 on a .22. In about 1971 i paid $98.00 for an Anschutz22, and that was a LOT of money back then "especially" for me!I still have it, and it still shoots like the day it wasnew.... You wouldn't believe the places i've drug that 22 and it's been worth every penny i paid for it... I've had a million dollars in fun with it over the years, not to mention how much money it's saved me by putting food on the table... All of that, and i could easily sell it for two hundred bucks today!! DM |

RE: Help me choose a .22
The reason I never bought a Rem. 572 was that several of my friends owned them, and their accuracy was less than desireable. The Rossi's are fun guns and shoot decently. The Henry .22 Lever action is a very accurate gun, also. I will not say it ranks with the more expensive guns, just gives acceptable accuracy for what it is. JMHO.
