Depends on what the kid is going to do with it.

RE: Good gun for kids
depending age, stature and ability start with a 22 atleast and keep going from there. dont jump to fast as in not from 22 to 12ga. get them used to shooting with something like a 22 and get them to be accurate. then move only when you and the child feel comfortable. teach them to use both scopes and iron sights. i think kids and young adults both are neglecting the simplicity and accuracy of iron sights due to lack of being properly taught.

RE: Good gun for kids
kids and guns scare me, hell most adults and guns scare me. Let a kid tote a pellet gun around for a while. the'll learn a lot. Just hope thy dont shoot their eye out.;)
I cut my teeth on a bb gun before moving up to a pellet gun. |
RE: Good gun for kids
I started with .22 with an NRA rifle safety course. Those things are aperture sights only; I've never touched a scope in my life. Seems to me that if you got them used to using something like an aperture sight then scope would not be a problem to switch to.

You guys must know that he can't respond because a bunch of dudes banned him. Quite a shame, huh? That's why we need to bring him back, so that he can tell us what he meant.

For deer hunting I bought my kids 8yrs & 10 yrs old both small stature Model 7 remingtons in 243 win. with Leupold vx-2 3-9-40 scopes both guns shoot excellent and are small enough for the kids to handle well.
