Browning BLR Lightweight '81 308
How would that be as a deer rifle? What is the accuracy of the gun? How is the .308?

Make sure you love the trigger because you will be stuck with it. Good luck.

Heard nothing but good things about the BLR.

BLR's are practical/mechanically a bolt action that is operated with a lever...so accuracy is generally great. The .308 has killed too many deer to count. The only fault is the fact that you can't improve the trigger if you wanted to.
Besides that, its a browning so it would hold most its value if you decided it wasn't right. I'd love to have a 308BLR...but a shotgun-only state and limited funds makes that tricky. |

I only ever had one of those BLR's I hated to see them go all light weight. My hunting buddy has one in 308 and its deadly. Mine was 7mm-08. I didn't keep it very long though because the one I had didn't handle reloads very well. (Hard extraction and sticky cases) Didn't try a SB die set, that may have fixed the problem. Overall they seem to be a great gun.

Great handy rifles, crap triggers, very accurate and the .308 win is considered a perfectly adequate moose round up here and they are 4-5 times as big as deer. Buy it.

That's what I use for most of my deer hunting, and I love it. My trigger is fine...I don't know what all the fuss is about. The rifle is very accurate. I use superX 150 gr and it is perfect for whitetail
