Kimber 8400 WSM

One of my friends asked me what I knew about the Kimber 8400 WSM rifles. I told him that I knew Kimber had an excellent reputation, and they were a bit on the pricey side. He hasn't picked a caliber yet, just interested to see what the opinions are of those who own them are in regards to fit and accuracy. Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks........Don

This topic was just covered but the post was lost when HNI reworked the site, but I reply again.....

I have had mine for a little over a year and am quite pleased with it. Yes, you are going to pay more for a Kimber but IMO it's well worth it. The fit and finish on the metal work is simply superb. They use way above average wood on their rifles and the checkering is done by hand. The mauser type action works slick as a whistle and was dedigned around the WSM line of cartridge The rifle uses a3 position wing saftey ala Win's M 70. The trigger on my 8400 breaks like glass at 3 lbs.
My rifle weighs in at 7lbs 4 oz with a Swarovski 3x10 as is a pleasure to carry afield.
As far as the way it shoots, it does good for 3 shots due to the light tapered barrel. My handloads in 300 wsm using R-19 and 180 gr Nosler AB's shoot 3/4" and the Win Super X 150gr Power Points into an inch.

I cant say that each and every one will do the same but all in all I am very impressed with the Kimber 8400 and would reccomend it highly if one is interested in a rifle with a little refinement.

Also forgot to mention that the 8400's are available in the Montana version {stainless/synthetic) as well as a long action chambered in these classic cartridges...30-06, 270 win, 25-06, 300 win mag and 338 win mag. Seems like they missed one by not adding the 7mm rem mag[8D]

PAwildman, alsofailed to say the the300 wsm is very tolerable to shoot in such a light weight rifle, I can attribute that to the classic straight comb of the well designed stockthat Kimber uses.

Here is a limk http://www.kimberamerica.com/rifles/8400standmag/
