The comparison between the .30/'06 - 8mm/'06 and the .30/30 vs the .32 Win. Specialk is about the same.

The 8mm/'06 is an excellent cartridge, being very mmuch the same as the 8X64S in European calibers. And, the 8mm/'06 Improved is treading very close to a number of .30 cal. magnum rounds, being capable of up to2800 FPS with 200-grain bullets. The 8mm Gibbs can get 2900 with a 200 grain bullet......

He probably thought it was a piece of junk because Wally World doesnt sell ammo for it :)
