Ruger 10/44
 

I just picked up a ruger 10/44 and need some opinions. I am curious as to what ammo to shoot and what to get for a scope. Any help greatly appreciated!

Get a scope with a 1” tube and not the 3/4" tubes...

I figured a 1" scope would be the one, but was more curious about wether or not a shotgun scope would be better due to the short parallax and shotgun like qualities of such a short gun with very limited range.

I like the 10/44 they are a great brush guns and any thing under 125 yards is dead. I would go with a 2-7 power or a straight 4 power scope. Just make sure you get a good set of rings for it and yes I would go with a 1 inch tube.

the first deer i ever got was with the older tube fed 'deerfield carbine'

i used regular old 240 gr JHP's

the rifle had a fixed power4x scope and handled so well i hit a running 4 pointerwhite tail 2 outta 3 shots right in the 'bread-basket'

the shots were taken in heavy cover from 25 feet er so

the two hits were right together and left an exit wound the size of my fist

For some silly reason I thought you were asking info for a 10/22 but with a 10/44 it’s a no brainer with the 1” tube however I would go with a 1-4, 2-7 or fixed 4x...

This was my 1st fun my dad ever got me. I killed a many a deer with it. I used to shoot regular old 240gr jhp just as early said above. I would knock the taste out of their mouths with it.Great 100yd and in gun. I had a 2x7x36redfield on it.

Ok folks what is it with this 10/44 talk now? In regards to Ruger made .44 magnum long guns you've got four choices:

1) .44 autoloading carbine
2) #3 single shot
3) 96/44 lever action
4) 99/44 auto loading carbine

There has not been and is not currently a Ruger model 10/44 at least to the very best of my limited knowledge. Hmm also never see this discussed at Ruger Forum nor is it listed as a manufactured model in Ruger and His Guns.Huh, wonder why? ;)

I apologize. I just got in the habit of referring to my 44 carbine as a 10/44.;)
