Ruger M77 Mark II - trigger replacement

I've got a Ruger M77 Mark II in 7mm Rem Mag that I really like except for the stock trigger. Has anyone replaced the stock trigger with a Timney trigger? Is it a do-it-yourself job or should I bring it to a gunsmith? I'm very good mechanically but have had almost no experience working on guns. Thanks.

Turc,
If you want about a 3lb pull the stock trigger can be worked over easily to achieve this. You can go to www.varminthunters.com and go to their Tech section. There used to be instructions on how to rework the Ruger trigger. If you don't want to attempt it most gunsmiths can lighten the pull and take out the creep for around $25.

I have a 77 MKII and I have been debating it myself...the instructions in the owners manual have it pretty well covered and since your replacing both the trigger and sear it should be a snap. Timney triggers I had been buying for Rem 700's are usually factory set to 3lbs so I am assuming that the 77's are set correspondingly.

HEY GUYS,
The thing that is required to be fit is the safty leg on the new trigger, stoning will be required in order to make the safty functional.
